South West Padel Guide 2026: Every Club from Bristol to Cornwall
By Gary, founder of RacketRise. Glasgow-based, covering padel across the UK — with regular visits to the South West scene.
Last Updated: April 2026.
Quick Summary
- The South West has 80+ padel-capable venues across 8 counties.
- Biggest venues: East Glos Club Cheltenham (26 indoor courts — one of the biggest in the UK), Rocket Padel Bristol (14 courts), Slazenger Padel Swindon (10), The Padel Club Gloucester (9), Surge Padel Bristol (8).
- Most mature scenes: Bristol (12 venues), Taunton (10), Truro (6), Gloucester (4), Cheltenham (3 including East Glos).
- Cornwall has seasonal padel — Rocks Lane at Trevose and Polzeath, plus Heron Tennis Newquay.
- Typical cost: £20–£40/hour peak, £16–£25 off-peak.
- Outdoor bonus: The milder SW climate means more outdoor padel than most UK regions.
- Find every SW venue via the RacketRise Court Finder.
The South West has built one of the strongest padel networks in the UK outside London — fuelled by a mix of dedicated operators (Rocket Padel, The Padel Club, Padel United, Padel People, East Dorset Padel) and LTA-affiliated tennis clubs adding courts. Cheltenham's East Glos Club (26 courts) is nationally significant, and Bristol's scene is mature enough that regular league play has been running for several years.
This guide maps every SW padel venue by county.

South West Padel: The Current Picture
The South West's scale gives it three distinct padel sub-scenes:
- Urban dedicated-venue scenes: Bristol, Cheltenham, Gloucester, Swindon, Bath — all have multiple courts within ~15-minute drive of each other.
- Holiday/resort padel: Cornwall and South Devon — Rocks Lane at Trevose and Polzeath, Torquay, Padel United sites — these spike in summer and run lower intensity in winter.
- Market-town and rural padel: Corsham, Cotswolds (Padel Shift Elkstone, Cotswold Padel Club, Padel People), Yeovil, Shepton Mallet, Taunton — modest scale, strong local communities.
Bristol Padel Courts
Bristol is the centre of gravity for SW padel with 12+ venues:
- Rocket Padel Bristol — BS4 4EB. 14 indoor courts — one of the biggest South West venues.
- Surge Padel Bristol — BS16 3JB. 8 indoor courts.
- The Redland Green Club — BS6 7HF. 2 indoor courts at this established Clifton-area club.
- Plus David Lloyd sites, Clifton College and multiple LTA-affiliated clubs adding courts.
Bristol is where most serious SW tournament play happens — LTA Padel British Tour fixtures run at Rocket Padel and Surge Padel regularly.
Bath and North Somerset
- Bath Lansdown Tennis & Squash Club — BA2 3EF. 2 outdoor courts.
- Team Bath — University of Bath, BA2 7AY. Part of the wider Team Bath sports setup.
Bath's padel scene is smaller than Bristol's but growing through 2026 — expect further additions at the university and established sports clubs.
Cheltenham and Gloucestershire
Gloucestershire has punched far above its weight on padel — largely because of East Glos Club's scale:
- East Glos Club — GL53 7DF. 26 indoor courts — one of the biggest padel facilities in the entire UK.
- The Padel Club Cheltenham — GL51 9NQ. 4 indoor courts.
- Cotswold Padel Club — GL543AP. 2 indoor courts.
- The Padel Club Gloucester Quays — GL1 5SF. 9 indoor courts.
- Riverside Sports & Leisure Club — GL1 2TF.
- Armscroft Park — GL2 0SR.
- Padel Shift Elkstone (Cotswolds) — GL53 9PQ.
Cheltenham's East Glos facility alone makes Gloucestershire a national padel destination — it's the single biggest dedicated padel venue in the South West and one of the largest in the UK.
Swindon and Wiltshire
- Slazenger Padel Clubs - Swindon — SN3 3HT. 10 indoor courts.
- Coach Calli - Padel & Squash Training — SN4 9QW.
- Haydon Centre and Gym — SN25 1QQ.
- Padel4all Basset Down Swindon — SN4 9QW.
- Hamptworth Padel and Pickleball Club — SP5 2DU. 5 indoor courts, dual-sport.
- Padel People - Corsham — SN13 9SW. 6 indoor courts.
- Springfield Community Campus (Corsham) — SN13 9DN.
Swindon and Wiltshire have notably strong padel density for their population — Slazenger Padel's 10 courts and Padel People Corsham's 6 together make this one of the best areas in the UK for a regular padel player to live.

- YMCA Taunton — TA1 2LB.

- Devon & Exeter Squash Club — EX4 4PR.
- University of Exeter Tennis Centre — EX4 4QN.
- Torquay Tennis Club — TQ2 5HP. 3 outdoor courts.
- Padel United Torquay — TQ2 5LZ. 4 outdoor courts.
Devon splits between Exeter (mature indoor scene anchored by City Padel) and the South Devon coast (Torquay's mix of outdoor tennis-club and dedicated facilities).
Plymouth and South Devon
- Padel United Plymouth — PL6 8BH. 4 indoor courts.
- Central Park Plymouth — PL2 3DG.
- Tothill Park — PL4 9EW.
Plymouth's dedicated padel facility is Padel United — the rest of the Plymouth scene runs on community and leisure-centre sites.
Cornwall Padel Courts
Cornwall has 6 listed padel-capable venues, most with a holiday / resort-scene flavour:
- Truro Squash & Leisure Club — TR1 3TS.
- Sir Ben Ainslie Sports Centre — TR1 1TH.
- Boscawen Park — TR1 1SG.
- Heron Tennis (Newquay) — TR7 2LZ.
- Rocks Lane @ Trevose Golf & Country Club — PL28 8JB. 2 indoor courts.

- Victoria Park Community Tennis (Salisbury) — SP1 3JH.
- Chalke Valley Sports Centre — SP5 5HX.
- Hamptworth Padel and Pickleball Club — SP5 2DU (listed above under Wiltshire).

Competition and Coaching
The South West is one of the strongest UK regions for padel competition outside London:
- LTA Padel British Tour fixtures run regularly at Rocket Padel Bristol, East Glos Club Cheltenham, and Surge Padel Bristol.
- Regional club leagues at Rocket Padel, The Padel Club sites, Slazenger Swindon, Padel People Corsham, and several LTA-affiliated tennis clubs.
- Coaching rates: £40–£60 for 1-to-1s, £15–£25 per player for group clinics at most dedicated sites.
If you're serious about competing, Bristol or Cheltenham gives you the easiest access to regular high-level play.
What's Opening Next
- More Rocket Padel and The Padel Club expansion is expected through 2026–2027 (specific sites not publicly confirmed).
- LTA-affiliated tennis clubs across the region continue to add 1–2 padel courts from existing grass-court footprints.
- Cornwall and Devon are expected to see further resort-style venues open as the coastal tourism market embraces padel.
If you run a South West padel venue not listed here, email hello@racketrise.co.uk — the database refreshes quarterly and I'd rather over-index than miss.
