£60-70
The Head Flash 2.0 is one of the best entry-level padel rackets on the market. Its round shape and low balance point make it extremely forgiving, perfect for players just learning the game.
Something wrong? Suggest an edit →Buy at £60-70 as your genuine first racket; expect to upgrade within 12-18 months once your timing settles.
If a friend asks me what their first padel racket should be and they refuse to spend more than £70, I send them to the Head Flash 2.0. It is not the absolute cheapest option — the Kuikma PR 990 from Decathlon is — but for £10-20 more you get a brand with proper customer support, easy replacement strings if you break one, and a noticeably more polished build.
The round shape and low balance combine to put the sweet spot directly in the middle of the racket, where a beginner is most likely to hit. You can mishit by a couple of centimetres in any direction and still get a usable shot back. The 355-365g weight is on the lighter side for padel, which means less wrist fatigue when your technique is still building, and the soft EVA core is genuinely soft — there is real give on impact.
The fibreglass surface is the obvious limit. It will not generate the spin or pace of a carbon face, and after about 12 months of regular play you will feel the racket holding you back. That is fine — it has done its job by then.
Ideal player is the genuine first-timer who has played 0-5 sessions and wants their own racket rather than borrowing club ones. Wrong owner is anyone who already plays once a week and rallies confidently — you will outgrow the Flash within a season.
PDH Sports and Sports Direct routinely stock it at £60-70, often with a basic cover.
